Romania wins another four medals at European Weightlifting Championships for Juniors and Youth

Romanian athletes won four new medals, two silver and two bronze, on Wednesday at the European Weightlifting Championships for Juniors and Youth (U23) in Durres (Albania).

In the juniors, in the 65 kg category, Daniel Dorobete won silver in the snatch, with 125 kg, but ranked 7th in the clean and jerk, with 145 kg, and 5th in the overall, with 270 kg.

In the same category, Daniel Jigau finished 10th in the snatch, with 112 kg, 11th in the clean and jerk, with 135 kg, and also 11th in the overall, with 247 kg.

Dana Berchi won three medals in the juniors, in the 58 kg category, one silver and two bronze. She won silver in the snatch, with 90 kg, bronze in the clean and jerk, with 114 kg, and also bronze in the overall, with 204 kg.

In the same category, Estefania Venusa Dobre took 7th place in the snatch, with 81 kg, was 10th in the clean and jerk, with 101 kg, and in the overall she ranked 9th, with 182 kg.

Romania is participating with a group of 15 athletes, 11 in juniors and 4 in U23, at the European Junior and Youth Championships in Durres (October 28 - November 5).

Romania's tally is ten medals after two days of competition, three gold, all won by Mihaela Valentina Cambei, in the 53 kg, Under-23 category, the rest of the medals being won by juniors, two silver, by Daniel Dorobete in 65 kg (snatch) and Dana Berchi in 58 kg (snatch) category, and five bronze medals, by Dana Berchi in 58 kg (snatch and overall), Narcis Papolti in the 60 kg (snatch and overall), Alexia Diana Sipos in the 53 kg (clean and jerk).
